The social network X is one of the most used worldwide, where millions of internet users access Elon Musk's portal every day to watch recordings that receive many views in very little time. Amid often explicit posts, a short video has recently gone viral showing the moment a car exploded during a drag racing attempt.
The incident took place in Ezequiel Montes, Querétaro, during a drag racing event at Autoboutique 1/4 Mile. A BMW 135i exploded and caught fire, leaving those present in shock. According to reports from Quadratín Querétaro, the explosion was due to a mechanical failure related to the use of nitrogen, a common compound in high-performance cars used to increase speed.
In the video, the vehicle can be seen stopped on the track while orange flames erupt from its front, with dozens of spectators present under tents. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries; both the driver and their passenger escaped unharmed. Despite the quick intervention of the security personnel, the car was severely damaged and its destruction could not be prevented.
Drag races, although organized events, have generated controversy in Querétaro. In previous years, arrests have been made for illegal racing in the region, highlighting the risks associated with these activities when not properly regulated. Although no official statement has yet been issued by local authorities regarding this incident, it is expected that safety measures will be reviewed for future events. Various internet users have expressed their surprise and doubts about what happened, generating a conversation around the safety and regulation of such events.
